Masjid Addas is a tiny Masjid that was constructed about 162 years ago and is situated in the Al-Matinah area. The mosque's design, which was inspired by Abbasid architecture and was constructed during the Ottoman era, gives the appearance that it is quite old. The mosque is thought to have been built over one of the locations where Zayd ibn Harithah and the Prophet Muhammad stopped for a rest on their route from Taif after being driven out of the city by its leaders and citizens in 620, during the Year of Sorrow. Family members of Rasoolullah from the Thaqeef tribe had known Muhammad for a very long time, but they were unable to believe Him at the moment. Even though they denied Him, Allah's Messenger prayed for the good of the people in Taif.

At that time, this region was well-known for its fruits. The Prophet was then presented with fruit on that land by a Christian grape grower who converted to Islam without a second thought and became the first Taifian to do so. The mosque called Masjid Addas was built where this incident took place, and it is a lovely, cool location with healthy nearby plants.

Things to do at Masjid Addas:

  • Study the historic architecture: The mosque's architectural style is similar to that of the Abbasid dynasty, giving the impression that it is older. The mosque has retained its traditional design, including its interior, and it boasts a singularly recognizable minaret. The cylindrical minaret has a cylinder-like appearance and a spherical peak at the top.
  • Explore the interiors: A door that opens to the Masjid's roof and a cyclical ladder is located at the top of the minaret. The minaret can be climbed to provide a perspective of the surrounding mountains, hills, and fields.
  • Witness the power of prayers: The mosque is frequently frequented by pilgrims who perform two rakat nafl prayer.'
