The Royal Saudi Air Force's history is chronicled in the Saqer Aljazeera Aviation Museum from its founding year in 1920 to the present. The museum comprises a sizable, contemporary interior museum and an outdoor static park. In 1999, the museum welcomed visitors to view Saudi Arabia's history and modern-day exhibits of the aviation world. This museum is a collection of models and actual aircraft, including several aircraft that were once used by the Royal Saudi Air Force. The collection also includes explanatory videos (in Arabic and English), equipment from the aircraft, simulators, and instrumentation. During mission STS-51-G, Prince Sultan from Al Saud Family was the first Saudi in space who served as a payload specialist (a space researcher who has been educated to operate very sensitive or specialized equipment aboard a space shuttle) on the Space Shuttle Discovery. A special exhibit on his discovery can be found in one of the display halls. These halls also exhibit the history of the RSAF, aircraft engines, weapons, uniforms, insignia, and decorations. Consider visiting the Royal Saudi Air Force Museum with your family and friends if you want to learn more about the bold history of the Royal Saudi Air Force. The Royal Saudi Air Force Museum is open every day of the week except Friday.
