Parc du Heron

One of the parks in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Parc du Heron has an area of 110 ha. A portion is designated as the Héron regional nature reserve.

It is situated in the town's center, between the Brigade and La Cousinerie neighborhoods to its south and north, the urban park to its west, the river La Marque and Forest-sur-Marque to its north (to the east).

In addition, the park's expansive scenery, which includes sweeping meadows, gurgling streams, and enormous mountains, has earned its recognition. It is particularly for travelers who desire a vacation that blends a little bit of the city and the outdoors.

THINGS TO DO AT PARC DU HERON

Run around the fields, the 1-kilometer outside perimeter path, and the stadium's indoor running track!

The main park in the neighborhood is the 110-hectare Parc du Héron, which is 7 km east of the city center in the suburb of Villeneuve-d'Ascq. It has 10 km of excellent running routes that include open fields, paths along a small river, and wooded areas.

To reach the castle, run for about 1 km west on the trail that crosses the highway on the north side of Lac-Saint-Jean.

Get temped to hike up the terrain for stunning vistas:

The park, well-known for its stunning topographical mosaic of mountains, dense forests, and alpine meadows, overwhelms every visitor. The hill of Marchenelles is an artificial hill rising to 40 meters, which was made when the new town was created using the earth removed from the lakes' excavation, overlooks it. In addition to taking in the breathtaking views, visitors can enjoy the park's trails, excursions, and thrilling pursuits like hiking and trekking.

Botanists can spend hours identifying and studying plant life:

This one is a haven for any nature lover with its diversity. About 120,000 plants were planted in a forest on Marchenelles hill between 1981 and 1982. Alder, aspen, elm, and oak are the main trees.

Additionally, the park features some lovely berry plantations and peculiar piscine, which are small rainwater pools that form in the fall.

Admire the wealth of animal life here:

That is what distinguishes Lille so uniquely. How close this city is too stunning natural areas. A significant portion of the lake is an ornithological reserve, recognized as a voluntary natural reserve and home to more than 250 different bird species. Visitors can meet a heron, see dozens of different species of birds, and even pet one of the draught horses in this pastoral setting on the lake tour, which is a beautiful classic of the city's walks.

Experience wilderness in its most extravagance:

The park offers many camping locations where visitors can experience what it's like to live in the middle of nature and the wild.

The hunting lodge Historic monument logo, the archaeological park Asnapio A tavern, and a theatre (ESAT: Quanta) are located on the Petitprez farm, which was joined to MH (1951) 1 (XVIIIth century, renovated by the Compagnons du Devoir), and the Heron farm.
