Castell de Eivissa

Ibizan Castle, also known as Castell d'Eivissa in the local Catalan language, is the beating center of the island. In spite of the fact that the castle continued to undergo renovations and expansions for several centuries after its initial construction in the 12th century, the ancient foundations remain intact. Unfortunately, the castle suffered severe deterioration over time and is currently in a state that might be described as partially derelict.

The Sant Jaume Bastion has been converted into a museum of military history. The history of the castle is displayed at the Sant Pere Bastion. An audio-visual display that shows tourists how the city wall was constructed is available to them. A recreation of scaffolding from the time period of the Renaissance is featured in the exhibition. Giovanni Battista Calvi is credited with designing both bastions in the year 1555.
