Monasterio Cartuja

The Monasterio de la Cartuja (officially known as'Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción') is a monastery located on a northern hill of Granada Spain.

The monastery is located about a quarter of a mile outside of the city centre of Granada, which contributes to the location's lower tourist foot traffic. It is a haven of peace in the middle of the busy city.

Take a look at the four sculptures that are currently standing in front of the church. One of them is an effigy of Saint Bruno, who was the founder of the Carthusian Order.

Look up at the ornate canopies made of wood and mirrors that are suspended above the main altar, and pay attention to the numerous paintings and sculptures that are hung on the walls and ceilings throughout the space.

After passing behind the altar and entering the Sancta Sanctorum, you will discover an extravagant tabernacle constructed of marble and jasper that stands at the centre of the space.
