Hawara Pyramid

The Hawara Pyramid, also known as the Labyrinth, is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located in the Fayoum oasis, about 100 kilometers southwest of Cairo.

While the pyramid's exterior may be in ruins, the entrance can still be reached, and its chambers explored.

Things to do at Hawara Pyramid:

  • Uncover and unravel the treasure hidden amid the complex: The Labyrinth, a massive network of rooms and hallways not far from the pyramid, is worth a visit. Parts of the Labyrinth, such as the Hall of Columns and the Throne Room, have survived the complex's gradual destruction over the years. The pyramid was initially around 75 meters high, but today it stands at only 58 meters due to the erosion of the mudbrick core over time. The pyramid was built with a limestone casing, but most of the casing stones have been removed or destroyed, leaving only a few remaining near the pyramid's base. The pyramid's interior consists of a series of chambers and corridors that lead to the burial chamber. The burial chamber was initially lined with granite and contained a coffin, but it was looted in ancient times, and the coffin is now lost.
