Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary

Seeing exotic birds up close and personal inspires amazement that could only have been felt as a child. For such an experience, the Soor Sarovar Bird Sanctuary is a well-known destination. The sanctuary's environment, home to various exotic birds, lush foliage, and freshwater marshes, is a delight for both bird watchers and nature lovers. The sanctuary, rich in fauna and flora, is particularly notable for its religious and cultural past. Keetham Lake, a haven for ducks, was made a wildlife sanctuary in 1991. The lake is home to around 126 different kinds of migratory and resident ducks. The sanctuary area was just 4.03 square kilometers when it was first established. But, the Forest Department subsequently expanded it to 8 square kilometers by planting trees around the lake to provide the area's wildlife with additional green space. Numerous small trails lead inside the woods, and the walking path runs alongside them. Here, you may hear the rustle of leaves, the muffled sounds of animals in the wild moving, and occasionally even the hiss of snakes. Hog deer, spotted deer, nilgai, and monitor lizards can all be found in the forests. The location of the 'Bhakti Kavya,' one of the finest devotional poems ever written, is credited with igniting Lord Krishna and Radha's love. There is a huge lake inside the sanctuary called Keetham Lake, encircled by luxuriant flora. The lake takes up a vast 2.25 sq km of the entire sanctuary's size. This pentagonal-shaped lake is one of the best spots in the sanctuary to witness a variety of unique avifaunal species, both local and migratory. In addition, several artificial islands offer the birds somewhere to nest and shelter. The sanctuary is home to more than 160 avifaunal species, including migratory and permanent birds. Along with the feathered creatures, this well-known bird sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh also contains roughly 300 pythons. Ornithologists see the Soor Sarovar Sanctuary, despite it being a little smaller than other sanctuaries, as one of the top travel destinations.
